The mind-body connexion, this class is designed to help you release tension and stress. Through gentle movements and the use of breath, you will be guided to feel into your body and move in a way that feels good for you. Rachel, the Yoga instructor at Sanctuary Yoga Darlington, believes that everyone's anatomy is different, and no two people will look the same in their practise. Therefore, the emphasis is on the practise feeling good, rather than the appearance of the poses.
The classes offered at Sanctuary Yoga Darlington include Balance Yoga on Tuesdays and Unwind Yoga on Thursdays. Balance Yoga takes place from 19:00 to 20:15 at Hummersknott Academy, providing an opportunity to find physical, mental, and emotional balance. The class consists of mindful movement, connecting to the breath, and ends with a blissful savasana. The pace is steady, allowing participants to truly connect breath to movement.
At the end of the class, you can expect to leave feeling calm, relaxed, and energised. This class is suitable for all levels, including beginners, and is priced at 6 per class if booked as a block, or 7 for a single class.
Unwind Yoga takes place on Thursdays from 19:00 to 20:15 at Salutation Hall. This class offers a sanctuary to shut out the outside world and journey inward. The focus of this class is to unwind and let go, allowing you to release any built-up stress or tension. Through a combination of gentle movements and mindful breathing, you will be guided to find relaxation and peace.
This class is suitable for all levels and is priced at 6 per class if booked as a block, or 7 for a single class.
Rachel's teaching style is based on the vinyasa flow style, but it is not ashtanga or power yoga. The aim is to create space both physically and emotionally, both on and off the mat. Although the flow is practised at a slower and steadier pace, you may still experience some heat and sweat during the class. Rachel is committed to making her classes accessible to as many people as possible, so there will never be any headstands or handstands, and you are not required to do all the poses if they do not work for you.
She encourages modifications and honouring your own mind and body parameters.
If you resonate with Rachel's approach to yoga and are interested in joining her classes, you can find more information on the classes page or contact her through the contact page. Rachel looks forward to welcoming you on the mat and guiding you on your yoga journey.
