Welcome to Saskatoon Aikido, where we are dedicated to the practice and teachings of the traditional Japanese martial art of Aikido. Our club, also known as Saskatoon Aikikai, was established in 1978 and is located in Room 5 (downstairs) of the Albert Community Centre at 610 Clarence Avenue South in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We are proud to be a non-profit volunteer organization, with club dues going towards dojo rental and maintenance.
Aikido is a martial art founded by O-Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba, that focuses on principles of harmony and non-resistance. Our training aims to promote peace and harmony, as well as the development of natural power (Ki) that unifies mind and body. At Saskatoon Aikido, students learn that force and aggression are counter-productive to achieving harmony, and instead focus on techniques that promote balance and unity.
Saskatoon Aikido is affiliated with the Canadian Aikido Federation, ensuring that our instructors and members adhere to the highest standards of practice and teaching. We offer classes for both children and adults, as well as special events and workshops throughout the year. Our instructors are experienced and dedicated to passing on the principles and techniques of Aikido in a safe and supportive environment.
In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have implemented safety measures to ensure the well-being of our members. Full-contact Aikido training continues under certain restrictions, including wearing masks in the halls of the Albert Community Centre and in the dojo, as well as staying home if feeling unwell. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming space for all who wish to learn and practice Aikido.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, Saskatoon Aikido welcomes you to join us on the mats and discover the transformative power of Aikido in your life. We invite you to come and experience the way of harmony with universal energy at Saskatoon Aikido.
