Karate Academy is Wado Ryu Karate, which is a traditional Japanese martial art that focuses on self-defence techniques, physical fitness, and mental discipline. Our instructors are highly experienced and knowledgeable in Wado Ryu Karate, and some are also trained in Ed Parker's Kenpo for adult students.
We cater to students of all ages, from juniors to seniors and even those over the age of 50. Our Junior Karate Classes have a comprehensive 6-month programme that includes specialised classes on bullying, stranger danger, self-defence, and merit badge evenings. We prioritise the welfare of our junior students and provide them with a safe and supportive learning environment.
South Bucks Karate Academy is a fully registered member of the United Kingdom All Style Karate Organisation (UKASKO), which is overseen by renowned Shukokai Karate Instructor Hanshi (9th Dan) Roy Stanhope. This affiliation ensures that our training meets high standards and is recognised internationally.
Our training facility, the Prestwood Karate Centre, is located in Prestwood Village Hall and boasts a fully matted training area and well-equipped with training equipment. It is conveniently situated between High Wycombe, Wendover, and Amersham in the South Buckinghamshire area.
The club has a long-standing history, operating in the High Wycombe area for nearly 40 years. Throughout the years, we have moved to different training halls, and currently, we are based at Newlands Girls School in Maidenhead. However, after the Covid-19 pandemic, we have temporarily resumed training only at our Prestwood base, and Maidenhead students are encouraged to join us there.
At South Bucks Karate Academy, we value not only physical training but also fostering a friendly and supportive community. We organise annual outings, such as Laser Quest, and participate in UKASKO competitions and other social events throughout the year. The welfare of our junior students is particularly important to us, and we offer specialised classes on stranger danger, bullying, and charity events.
Our training schedule includes Friday evening classes at Prestwood Village Hall, where juniors train from 6:30 to 8 pm and seniors from 8 pm to 10 pm.
Karate training offers numerous benefits, including self-defence skills, physical fitness, and mental conditioning. It equips students with lifelong skills and teaches them how to tackle everyday challenges. At South Bucks Karate Academy, we believe in making karate training enjoyable and fulfilling while still maintaining the traditional aspects of the art.
