Sensei David Smith has a background in Tae Kwon Do and trained in various styles before settling in Bathurst and joining Seito Shito Ryu Phillips Dojo in 2009. He obtained his Black Belt (Sho Dan) in Seito Shito Ryu in 2014 and achieved his 2nd Dan (Nidan) in Japan in 2017. Currently, David is training for his 3rd Dan (Sandan) and aims to achieve this in 2021. He is grateful to be guided by Colin Phillips Sensei.
Seito Shito Ryu Phillips Dojo offers a safe and family-oriented karate training experience for students of all ages. Their instructors embody the five principles of Seito Shito Ryu Karate: always try your best, always be courteous and maintain proper etiquette, constantly strive to improve and grow, be practical and use common sense, and keep harmony and peace in daily living. They believe that karate is not only a fun activity but also promotes fitness, teaches defence skills, and builds life skills and positive moral values.
Classes are available for different age groups, including Karate Roo's (4–7 years), Karate Kids (8-12 years), and Adults. The Dojos are located in Bathurst and Lithgow. Students at Seito Shito Ryu Phillips Dojo have had remarkable success overseas, and the Dojo is a member of Shito Ryu Australia Karate Do Kai, directly affiliated with the Shito Ryu International Karate Do Kai in Osaka, Japan.
For those interested in joining a class or learning more about Pure Karate, they can contact the Dojo through phone or email. Further information and updates can also be found on their social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube.
