It is a synthesis of Ueshiba's martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. The goal of Aikido is to enable practitioners to defend themselves while simultaneously protecting their attackers from harm. The fundamental principles of Aikido include striking, breathing control, entering, and turning movements that redirect the opponent's attack momentum.
Sendokai Aikido practises the Yoshinkan tradition, which is headed in the UK by Sensei Terry Harrison, 6th Dan, based in London. The Devon branch is led by Francis Blackmore, 2nd Dan, who brings a wealth of expertise to the school. The principal classes are held at Bideford College, providing a dedicated and professional space for students to train.
