Russell is located in Eastern Ontario, nestled between Ottawa and Montreal. This trail, known as the “VIA Recreational Trail,” stretches 72 km and offers an exceptional cycling experience year-round. In the winter, it's used for snowmobiling, while in the summer, it’s perfect for walking and cycling.
The Prescott Russell Recreational Trail is now connected to the Trans Canada Trail, opening up new possibilities for exploration and discovery for cyclists of all levels. Details about fees, rental hours, and the official program launch will be shared soon.
In addition to rental activities, the trail hosts various events and initiatives to encourage the community to enjoy this exceptional natural resource. Cyclists will find suggested cycling routes, hundreds of kilometres of paved shoulders, and opportunities for mountain biking and fat biking.
Cyclists are also invited to support the trail by participating in the “Adopt a Kilometre” program, which helps cover the maintenance and improvement costs of the VIA Recreational Trail. More information about this program and how you can contribute is available on the trail’s website.
