Shantallow Gymnastics Academy

Sarah, the organiser of Shantallow Gymnastics Academy, would like to extend a warm invitation to our sports community. Located in Derry, the academy is dedicated to providing quality gymnastics training for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

The academy offers various gymnastics programmes tailored to different age groups. The Minor programme, for children aged 4–6 years, takes place from Tuesday to Friday, 3:30-4:30pm, and on Saturday from 10-11am. The Junior programme, aimed at children aged 7–9 years, runs from Tuesday to Friday, 4:40-6pm, and Saturday from 11:10am-12:30pm. For athletes aged 10 and above, the Senior programme operates on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:10-8pm, and on Saturday from 12:40-2:30pm.

Additionally, there is a Team programme scheduled for Wednesday and Friday from 6-8:30pm, and Saturday from 12:40-3:00pm.

Sarah and her team are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all gymnasts. They enforce a strict code of conduct, which includes wearing appropriate attire, such as tracksuits, leotards, T-shirts, shorts, and leggings, while avoiding jewellery and body piercings. Hair must be tied back to ensure safety during training.

Gymnasts are expected to cooperate with coaches and peers, behave courteously, and uphold high standards of sportsmanship. Respect for coaches and adherence to instructions are paramount.

Safety remains a top priority at Shantallow Gymnastics Academy. Gymnasts are advised to be mindful of uneven surfaces and avoid running in the gym, except during warm-ups and floor exercises. They should also refrain from lying on or between mats while waiting for further instructions, and any form of pushing, pulling, or fighting is strictly prohibited. Cheating during training is not tolerated.

As for refreshments, gymnasts are allowed drinks in the gym area but not food. Only non-spillable drinks are permitted, and canned or fizzy drinks are not allowed.

The gym is located at 39 North West Business Complex in Skeoge Industrial Park, Beraghmore Road, Derry. It operates from Tuesday to Friday, 3:30pm to 8:30pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. The academy is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
