Sheffield Viking Sailing Club is a vibrant and welcoming sailing club located in Sheffield, New Zealand. Dedicated to the exhilarating sport of dinghy racing and sailing, the club offers an array of classes of dinghies for all sailing enthusiasts. Sailing activities take place every Sunday from noon onwards, providing ample opportunities for members to get out on the water. In addition, during the summer months, Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8pm are dedicated sailing times. Twice monthly on Saturdays, starting at 1:54pm, the club also organises sailing sessions.
Sheffield Viking Sailing Club is situated in the beautiful Damflask Reservoir, where other activities such as rowing and fishing also take place. It is important to note that no other water sports are currently undertaken at the location. For further information about the reservoir and its surroundings, Yorkshire Water can be consulted.
In terms of race results, the club keeps participants informed about their performance with up-to-date race result updates. Members can view their recent progress in terms of corrected time and assess their competitiveness in different wind conditions.
Membership fees are affordable and designed to cater to various preferences. Full or Family Membership, which includes the member's partner and children under 18, is priced at 180. Cadet Membership, available for those aged 18 years and above in full-time education, costs 58. Retained Membership, which is for non-active sailors, is priced at 26.
Honorary Membership is available by invitation only and is free of charge. For members who require boat or sailboard storage at the club, there are fees of 50 and 20 respectively.
