Sail at Shell Bay Sailing Centre is a fantastic opportunity for youth aged 8 to 15 years old to develop their sailing skills. Our youth sailing courses are designed to teach young sailors the fundamentals of sailing in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Our courses are run by experienced RYA qualified instructors who are passionate about sailing and teaching. They are well-equipped to provide a fun and educational experience for young sailors. Our instructors maintain a maximum student-to-instructor ratio of 6:1 to ensure individual attention and optimal learning.
We offer a range of youth sailing courses that follow the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. These courses are designed to progressively develop sailing skills and confidence. From the Start Sailing course, where sailors will learn the basics of sailing using single-handers, to the Basic Skills course, which covers safety awareness and sailing independently in light winds, our courses provide a comprehensive learning experience.
For those who have completed the Basic Skills course, we offer the Better Sailing course, which aims to improve sailing techniques and broaden sailing experience. We also have courses in Seamanship Skills, Day Sailing, and Sailing with Spinnakers for those who want to further their skills and knowledge.
In addition to our scheduled courses, we also offer private tuition for youth sailors who prefer a more tailored learning experience. Our private tuition can range from a 2-hour session for one or two people to a full-day refresher or improver course for two or more people. At Shell Bay Sailing Centre, safety is our top priority. We provide all necessary safety equipment and ensure that students are well-informed about safety procedures on the water. Our location in Poole Harbour offers quiet and protected waters, perfect for learning to sail in a relaxed and controlled environment.
