About
Shibumi Karate Club, nestled in Saltcoats, Scotland, has been kicking about since 1987, thanks to the dynamic duo, Sensei John Deans and Sensei Liz Devlin. Over the years, Sensei John has steered the ship, growing the club to a bustling community of about a hundred eager karatekas.
This isn’t just any dojo; Shibumi Karate Club has bagged numerous medals and titles, from Scottish to World competitions. In 2005, Sensei Calum gave the club an extra boost by opening a branch in West Kilbride, which has quickly become a vital part of the local sports scene.
“Shibumi” means “effortless perfection” in Japanese, a principle the club lives by. It’s about finding a simple, honest beauty in karate, without any fuss.
Check out the Shibumi Karate Club Facebook page for updates, photos, and a chance to connect with fellow members. They welcome everyone, no matter your age or skill level, offering a nurturing space to learn and practise karate. Dive in and discover your state of Shibumi!
