Shinkadokan is a new organization dedicated to developing modern combat sports rooted in traditional Japanese martial arts. The primary goal of Shinkadokan is to share their passion with individuals interested in practising the various disciplines offered in a safe and healthy environment. The organization works in partnership with different community services in the Lower Laurentians region and Laval. Currently, classes are available in Deux-Montagnes and in the Sainte-Dorothe neighbourhood of Laval.
The schools of Shinkadokan promote teaching that respects Japanese tradition, with a focus on attention to detail. Martial knowledge is acquired through the movements experienced in the different forms of combat offered by the organization.
Shinkadokan offers classes in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Karate, and Essentrics. Judo, meaning “gentle way,” involves throwing and controlling opponents on the ground using submissions and immobilisations. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu aims to control and submit opponents through chokes and joint locks. Karate Shotokan aims to strengthen both body and mind through striking techniques and katas.
Essentrics is an exercise program that combines elements of yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, and dance.
The Judo classes teach students to project opponents to the ground and then control them through various techniques such as immobilisations, chokes, and joint locks. Students also learn traditional kata forms essential for training and development.
Shinkadokan is dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals to learn and practice martial arts, promoting physical fitness and mental well-being. With a focus on traditional Japanese martial arts and a commitment to excellence in teaching, Shinkadokan offers a unique and enriching experience for individuals of all ages and skill levels.
