Shotford Bowling Club

Shotford Bowling Club is a lawn and indoor bowls club located in Harleston, South Norfolk. Serving the town of Harleston and the surrounding villages, the club has a wide catchment area that extends far beyond the local vicinity. In fact, members hail from as far away as Brooke and Long Stratton in Norfolk, as well as Framlingham in Suffolk.

The club boasts an impressive range of facilities for both indoor and outdoor bowling. There are six outdoor rinks and four indoor rinks, ensuring that members have ample space to enjoy their favourite sport. In addition to the bowling areas, there is also a well-appointed bar and lounge area, as well as a function room complete with full kitchen facilities. For added convenience, there is plenty of off-street parking available for members and guests.

The indoor bowling season runs from September to April, during which time the club hosts internal leagues for men's, ladies', and mixed teams. Additionally, there are informal afternoon “roll up” sessions that welcome all members and offer a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a cup of tea while playing the sport. In April, as the days lengthen, the game moves outdoors to the grass rinks. However, the informal indoor afternoon sessions continue for those members who prefer to play indoors.

Membership at Shotford Bowling Club is open to new members, and they are encouraged to come along to one of the afternoon indoor roll-up sessions. These sessions typically start at 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons and offer an opportunity to experience the facility firsthand. The club provides one or two sets of woods that can be borrowed for these sessions, making it convenient for newcomers to join in the fun.

The annual subscription for full members covers both the indoor and outdoor seasons at Shotford, making it a cost-effective option for those who enjoy bowling year-round. For those who may not wish to actively play but still want to be a part of the club, social membership is also available.
