Simon Coope Karate School (SCKS) is a renowned martial arts school located in Nuneaton, specialising in traditional Wado Ryu karate – one of the four recognised styles of proper karate. Established in April 2004 by Simon Coope, it has since become a premier destination for those seeking high-quality karate training in a family-friendly environment.
The school prides itself on its commitment to families, offering discounted rates for family memberships. SCKS recognises that karate is not only an excellent all-over body workout for adults but also a valuable tool for children to build confidence and self-defence skills. With literally hundreds of children already enrolled in the club, SCKS welcomes newcomers by offering the first month of training for free.
Sport karate is another aspect of SCKS that sets it apart. The school is honoured to have multiple members in the EKF (English Karate Federation) team, making it one of the top competition karate clubs in Britain. For those seeking a challenge and the opportunity to compete at a national level, SCKS is the perfect fit.
Simon Coope, the founder of the school, has had a personal journey with karate. He started his son, Matthew, with Sensei Lee Goold at the Hermitage Leisure Centre when Matthew was five years old, in hopes of preventing any bullying that Simon himself had experienced in school. Matthew's rapid progress and passion for karate inspired Simon to join the class as well. David Coope, Simon's other son, also joined the school at a young age and achieved a black belt shortly after turning nine.
Since its inception, Simon Coope Karate School has produced over 200 black belts and numerous English and British National champions. Notably, five members of the school have represented England in the Olympic-recognised national team, including two disabled members. Despite its competition success, the primary focus of the school remains on teaching traditional Wado Ryu karate to an exceptionally high standard.
SCKS also offers unique opportunities for its students to train with world-renowned instructors in various countries, including Japan. The school's extensive network of contacts allows students to experience karate training at its best, both domestically and internationally.
To make enrolment more accessible, SCKS provides flexible payment options. The monthly fees vary based on the number of classes attended per week and the number of family members enrolled. For one person, the fees range from 26. 00 per month for one lesson per week to 52.
50 per month for unlimited attendance, including all grading fees to Black Belt and future licences. Family discounts are available, with subsequent family members only paying for grading and licences.
