Sir Thomas Rich's Bowling Club, located in Gloucester, is a unique club attached to Sir Thomas Rich's Grammar School. It stands out as the only school in the country with a full-size outdoor green. Founded in 1966 during the school's tricentenary, the club was established with surplus funds that were originally intended for a swimming pool. Tommies, as the club is affectionately known, is renowned for its active participation in various friendly, social, and county competitions. Individuals interested in trying their hand at bowls can visit the club on any Monday or Friday evening between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. No equipment is required, other than a pair of flat shoes or trainers, and experienced members will be present to provide guidance and instruction.
