Skye Highland Dancers (DAES) is a well-established dance school located in Portree on the Isle of Skye. Founded in 2009 by native Karen Campbell, the school has grown from a small group of dancers to a thriving community of 75 dancers from all over Skye. Ranging in age from 4 years to 21, these dancers regularly compete and succeed in competitions across Scotland.
Karen Campbell, a highly experienced Highland dancer herself, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as the school's instructor. Having competed nationally and internationally from a young age, Karen is now passing on her expertise to the next generation of Highland dancers in the DAES family.
In addition to competitions, Skye Highland Dancers frequently perform for visitors from all over the world who are visiting Scotland and the islands. They have even had the opportunity to entertain at an American 'Disney Tour' held at a prestigious local hotel. The dancers also enjoyed a memorable trip to Disneyland Paris for the International Gathering of Scottish Highland Dancing.
Throughout the year, Skye Highland Dancers host and participate in various local and national competitions. Last year, they hosted three competitions, including their 10th Anniversary competition, which was held in conjunction with Karen's 40th birthday. This year, they are once again hosting three competitions and are also planning a fundraising trip to The New York City Tartan Week in 2021.
