Dave Sims runs half-day and full-day fishing charters, designed to cater to both novice and seasoned anglers. With a maximum of 9 passengers per trip, each outing promises a personalised and intimate adventure. The charters take you around the picturesque inner Hauraki Gulf, Mussel farms, and nearby waters.

They offer morning trips from 7:30 am to 12 pm, and afternoon trips from 12:30 pm to 5 pm, as well as custom charters based on your group’s preferences.

For keen game fishers, Dave Sims has introduced full-day offshore trips targeting Marlin, Tuna (seasonal), Bluenose Hapuka, and the hard-fighting Kingfish of Coromandel. These trips cover areas like the Barrier, Mokohinau, Channel Islands, and Cuvier, with multi-day charters available on request.

A minimum of 5 passengers is required, with a maximum of 8. Half-day trips are $120 per person, while booking the entire boat for a half-day costs $950. Full-day boat bookings are priced at $1,900. A $200 deposit is needed at the time of booking, payable in cash or via direct deposit (internet banking). Casual trips require full payment at the time of booking.

Smokin Reels also provides bait and rod hire at $20 each per person, or $35 for both. Book bait and gear in advance. The new vessel, Reel Action, a 9.5m offshore Senator, enhances both in-shore and offshore Hauraki Gulf experiences.

In case of cancellations due to bad weather, deposits are refunded or trips rescheduled. Customer-initiated cancellations within three weeks of the trip may result in deposit retention if the spot isn't filled. No refunds are given for cancellations within a week or casual bookings for 1 to 4 people. Trips can be cancelled if passengers are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
