Southern Rugby Football Club, also known as “The Magpies,” is a rugby club located in Dunedin, New Zealand. With a rich history dating back to 1884, the club was formed through the amalgamation of the Caversham Football Club and the Pacific Football Club. As we approach our 140th anniversary in 2024, Southern Rugby Football Club stands as one of the most traditional rugby union clubs in the Dunedin area and in all of New Zealand.
At Southern Rugby Football Club, we strive to provide an excellent club environment that fosters the growth and development of our players. We believe in encouraging our players to achieve their full potential, and we do so through the strong traditions, loyalty, and exceptional administration and coaching that are the pillars of our club. In addition, we pride ourselves on offering a friendly and welcoming family atmosphere, which is key to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all.
We offer great facilities for both Junior and Senior Grades, and we welcome players of all skill levels to join us. Our club can be found at Bathgate Park, conveniently located on the corner of Hillside Road and Helena Street in South Dunedin.
