Located in Sale, South Manchester Aikido is a welcoming and friendly club that practises the traditional Aikikai-style of Aikido. Aikido is a modern, dynamic martial art that originated in Japan in the early 20th century and has gained popularity worldwide.
At South Manchester Aikido, members will not only learn effective self-defence techniques but also improve their fitness and confidence. Aikido is unique in its approach, teaching practitioners to use an attacker's weight and momentum to disable or throw them. This non-aggressive and non-violent martial art emphasises blending with an incoming attack and redirecting the force with minimal effort.
One of the great aspects of Aikido is that it is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or physical fitness. South Manchester Aikido Club encourages individuals of all fitness levels to join, as strength and physical prowess are not prerequisites for starting Aikido practise. In a safe and supportive environment, students help each other improve their skills, making it a cooperative rather than competitive form of martial art.
As a member of the British Birankai, South Manchester Aikido Club provides internationally recognised grades, ensuring students receive top-quality instruction. The instructors, who are Dan grades (black belts), are fully certified and have undergone CRB checks. This ensures that members receive expert guidance from well-qualified instructors.
Aikido is not only a means of self-defence but also offers numerous health benefits. Regular practise can improve overall health and fitness, enhance flexibility, and develop quicker reflexes. Additionally, Aikido can help individuals gain confidence in their everyday lives.
If you're interested in learning Aikido and becoming part of a supportive community, South Manchester Aikido is the ideal place for you. Join us to experience the beauty and effectiveness of Aikido in a safe and inclusive environment.
