Acting – Emma Thompson BA(Hons) Emma is a highly experienced and skilled acting teacher with a BA(Hons) degree in Drama from the University of Derby. She has worked in both professional theatre productions and educational settings, teaching acting techniques to students of all ages. Emma's contagious energy and love for the craft inspires her students to explore their creativity, develop their characters, and become confident performers.
Dancing – Sharon Johnson Sharon is a talented dancer and dance teacher with over 15 years of experience. She has trained in various dance styles including ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Sharon's passion for dance shines through in her teaching, where she nurtures her students' technique, musicality, and artistry. She brings her vibrant and dynamic energy to the dance classes at Stagecoach Derby, guiding students to move with precision, emotion, and style.
Stagecoach Derby offers a range of weekly classes for children aged 4–18 years. The Early Stages classes for ages 4-6 run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, introducing young children to singing, dancing, and drama in a 90-minute session. The Main Stages classes for ages 6-18 are split into age-appropriate groups and provide three hours of training in singing, dancing, and drama. Whether a child is shy or confident, Stagecoach Derby aims to nurture their potential, building their confidence and unleashing their creativity.
In addition to their weekly classes, Stagecoach Derby also offers holiday workshops where students can dive deeper into their passion for the performing arts. These workshops provide a unique opportunity for intensive training and personal growth, allowing students to explore different styles, techniques, and performance opportunities.
As part of their commitment to individual development, Stagecoach Derby offers all students the opportunity to sit LAMDA exams. With an 100% pass rate, these exams allow students to further enhance their skills and receive recognition for their hard work and talent.
Stagecoach Derby is led by Principal Hayley Greenway Yau, who has been teaching at Stagecoach for 10 years before taking over the school. Hayley is a renowned singing teacher/vocal coach in the local area and has performed professionally across the industry. With her passion for the arts, Hayley is dedicated to providing a safe, happy, friendly, and fun-filled environment for all students at Stagecoach Derby.
