Stanwick Bowls Club

It is believed that the Rector donated some land on the edge of the churchyard for the use of the bowls club, which is where the current green is located. 1929 The Club joined the Northamptonshire Bowling Association and competed in District and County competitions.

The Club also competed in friendly matches against local teams. 1954 The Club purchased a wooden pavilion for its members to use as a clubhouse. This pavilion served the Club for many years until it was replaced in 2007 with a new purpose-built clubhouse. The new clubhouse has modern amenities and provides a comfortable space for members to socialise and relax.

1965 The Club installed nighttime floodlights on the green, allowing members to play evening matches. This has been particularly popular during the summer months when daylight hours are longer. 1998 The Club introduced short mat bowls as an indoor alternative during the winter months. This allowed members to continue playing bowls and stay active all year round.

Short mat bowls has become a popular activity within the Club, attracting both existing members and new participants. 2013 The Club celebrated its 90th anniversary with various events and activities, including a special dinner and exhibition matches. This milestone highlighted the Club's longevity and the strong community spirit among its members. Today, Stanwick Bowls Club continues to thrive as a welcoming and inclusive club.

Its members range in age and ability, with experienced bowlers mentoring and supporting newcomers. The Club offers a range of roll-up sessions, outdoor and indoor leagues, and friendly matches against local teams. The passion for the game of lawn bowls and the camaraderie among members are what make Stanwick Bowls Club a special place to be.
