Kyu Kitso Judo Club, London's premier Judo club, is excited to invite all interested players to our upcoming Judo event. Known as “Starting Judo,” this event is specifically tailored for beginners who are keen to learn and experience the captivating martial art of Judo. Whether you're completely new to Judo or have some prior knowledge, this class warmly welcomes each one of you.
The best way to dive into the world of Judo is by joining one of our practice sessions and stepping onto the tatami, our Judo mat. However, if you're still unsure about participating right away, don't fret! You're more than welcome to simply attend and observe one of our sessions to get a taste of what Judo is all about.
For your first session, all you need is comfortable workout attire, such as a t-shirt and jogging bottoms. No need to worry about the specific Judo uniform just yet. If you decide to continue your journey in Judo, our experienced instructors will gladly guide you on purchasing a judogi or gi, the traditional uniform worn in Judo.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, it's important to bring along a bottle of water to stay hydrated during our highly intensive exercises. You'll quickly realise that bowing plays a significant role in Judo. It serves as a gesture of respect towards your teachers and fellow judoka, as well as a way to express gratitude towards those who practice together with you.
The session will kick off with warm-up and stretching exercises designed specifically for Judo techniques. As a beginner, you'll initially focus on falling techniques, also known as Ukemi, and various throwing techniques, all under the careful guidance of our skilled Senseis.
Before you can fully immerse yourself in the world of Kyu Kitso Judo Club, it's essential to become a member of the British Judo Council (BJC) and obtain a license. This license acts as proof of your BJC membership and also provides insurance coverage in case of any unforeseen accidents. Furthermore, it grants you the opportunity to participate in exciting BJC events, including gradings and competitions. The membership fee varies depending on the type of license you opt for, and it covers you for a whole year.
