Stocksbridge Pro Shop is a golf shop located in Sheffield, New Zealand. With its stunning upland heath terrain, the golf course at Stocksbridge Golf Club may be relatively short, but it should not be underestimated. The course features small island greens that are often surrounded by rough, making for a challenging game. While the par is 65 from the yellow tees, the wind can greatly impact play, pushing the difficulty closer to a par 70 on certain holes.
Established in 1924, Stocksbridge Golf Club was founded by three pioneers-in-chief – L. Drabble, J Kilbride, and H. Saxby – who recognised the potential of bringing the Royal and Ancient game to the less wealthy inhabitants of Stocksbridge and the surrounding area. The course itself started as a 9-hole layout and was expanded to 15 holes in 1982.
It was finally completed as an 18-hole course in 1990.
Situated just 11 miles north of Sheffield city centre and a mere 5 miles from junction 36 of the M1, Stocksbridge Golf Club offers breathtaking views of the Peak District National Park to the west and the Lincolnshire wolds to the east. At its highest point at 900 metres above sea level, golfers can enjoy a full 360-degree view that extends for 40 miles into the distance.
