About
Stone Mill in Trowbridge, England, has a storied history that dates back to the 16th century. Originally a corn mill, it later became a fulling mill and then a cloth mill, evolving with the times. In 1602, the Earl of Hertford, lord of the manor, purchased Stone Mill for fulling wool, cleansing it from oil and dirt. Fast forward to the late 18th century, and the mill was harnessing water power and mechanical gears for large-scale cloth production.
The mill saw a significant upgrade in 1817 with the addition of a steam-powered beam engine, boosting its production capacity. Though the mill ceased cloth operations in 1982 and later served various purposes like storage, restaurants, retail shops, and offices, its potential was far from spent.
Giles UK Ltd acquired Stone Mill in 2011, transforming it into a hub for fitness, health, and beauty services. Today, Stone Mill is a hive of activity, home to businesses such as The Bridal Lounge, Olya Tout FitHer, You Hair By Fern, PhysioJo, and Giles Properties Ltd.
Situated near the Shires Centre, it’s easily accessible from Court Street, the Shires shopping centre walkway opposite Iceland, or from the Asda car park. Whether you're after a wedding gown, a workout session, or a physio appointment, Stone Mill has something for everyone in the community.
