At the Shala in Tiddington, you'll find a mix of classes like assisted self-practice, beginners' Ashtanga, and led sessions. The space is peaceful and perfect for your yoga journey.
For those new to Ashtanga Yoga, Emma offers two types of classes: led and 'Mysore' style self-practice. Since 2009, these 6-week beginner courses have been ideal for complete newbies and those wanting to deepen their Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice. They start with basic breath and movement techniques and gradually progress to self-practice of Sun salutations. By the end, you’ll have a 45-minute routine down, including Sun salutations, standing sequences, seated positions, and finishing sequences.
The 'Mysore' style assisted self-practice classes stick to traditional Ashtanga Yoga methods from Mysore, India. The teacher, moving around the room, offers one-on-one guidance and hands-on help. These sessions are open to all, from absolute beginners to advanced practitioners, with no booking needed. 🙌
Feel free to check the class timetable for all scheduled sessions. Emma knows starting out might feel a bit overwhelming, but she values regular attendance. You'll soon appreciate the energy and focus in the room. Your progress is at your own pace, with the teacher addressing any physical issues or injuries and introducing the first set of poses. Sessions build on each other, helping you develop a self-practice that you can even continue at home.
Expect to practise for about 45 minutes on the first day, with longer sessions as you progress. Emma recommends practising at least three times a week to really benefit.
