About

Streetfunk Hove Hub is a renowned dance school located in Hove, Sussex. Specialising in street dance, the school offers classes for children aged 4 to 18 years old. Founded by JP Omari, a highly acclaimed hip hop dancer, teacher, coach, and choreographer, Streetfunk has become the leading hip hop dance authority in Brighton & Hove.

While hip hop dance is the core focus of Streetfunk's activities, the school places equal importance on instilling qualities that make dancers not only skilled performers but also decent, respectable, and confident individuals. JP Omari firmly believes in the values of hard work, discipline, and respect, and these qualities are emphasised in every class. Children are encouraged to express themselves freely and have fun through dance, along with learning the importance of personal growth and self-expression.

Streetfunk offers a diverse range of classes and levels to suit the needs of every student. Classes include Minis (for children aged 4 to 6), Beginners (for children aged 6 and above), and Intermediate (for children aged 9 and above). The timetable is strategically planned to accommodate various age groups and skill levels. Classes are instructed by highly experienced teachers, such as Monique, Amanda, and JP Omari himself.

The school operates out of the Hove Methodist Church, conveniently located on Portland Road. The venue provides a safe and spacious environment for students to learn and practise their dance skills. Streetfunk also offers a flexible membership package designed to suit individual needs. For 40 per month, students can enjoy one hour of class per week, and for 65 per month, students can indulge in two hours of class per week.

Membership comes with added perks, such as participation in the annual production titled 'Straight Up'.

Streetfunk has garnered recognition and praise from both the dance community and supporters alike. Their dedication to inspiring and positively impacting young people through street dance has made them a standout in the dance industry. The school has attracted attention from renowned figures in the entertainment industry, such as Tony Mortimer from the iconic group East 17, who serves as Streetfunk's patron. Tony Mortimer acknowledges the school's ability to unleash the potential of young people from diverse backgrounds, giving them direction, purpose, and motivation.

JP Omari, the founder of Streetfunk, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the school. As a multi-award-winning hip hop dancer, teacher, coach, and choreographer, JP has been instrumental in promoting and advancing hip hop dance in the UK. He has performed, taught, and judged competitions internationally, solidifying his reputation as a prominent figure in the UK dance scene. JP's accomplishments include being the UK's first bboy (breakdancer) to participate in a reality TV dance show, reaching the semi-finals of the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever in 2006.

He has also collaborated with acclaimed artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Sean Paul, and Orbital.

With its commitment to excellence, Streetfunk Hove Hub continues to inspire and shape the next generation of dancers. Whether it be for recreational enjoyment or pursuing a professional dance career, this dance school offers a nurturing and supportive environment for dancers of all ages and backgrounds. Students experience personal growth, artistic expression, and the joy of dance, all under the guidance of top-calibre instructors.
