Since “Strictly Come Dancing” hit our screens, ballroom and Latin have become popular pastimes, appealing to all ages. Not only is it great fun, but dancing is fantastic for fitness and meeting new people. Carol understands that joining a dance class can be a bit daunting, especially for the gentlemen, but she encourages everyone to give it a go. There’s nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain!
Classes are held at two venues: the Nicholls Hall in Lydford and the Jubilee Hall in Chagford. These places offer a welcoming space where dancers of all levels can come together and learn. At Nicholls Hall, Mondays from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm are dedicated to beginners and those new to dancing. Wednesdays at Nicholls Hall cater to both beginners from 7:15 pm to 8:15 pm and absolute beginners from 8:15 pm to 9:15 pm.
No matter your experience, there’s a class for you. The cost is £10 per person for Monday classes and £5 per person per hour for Wednesday sessions. You don't need any specific clothing—just light, comfortable clothes that allow for easy movement. Men should opt for light footwear without thick rubber soles, and while ladies can wear high heels, sticking to a lower heel between 2 to 2.5 inches is advisable.
You don’t need a partner to join. Carol and her team will do their best to pair everyone up, ensuring no one misses out. They have dedicated helpers on hand to stand in as dance partners if needed.
