Nick, the owner and skipper of Sturdy Girl, has resided on Mersea Island for nearly three decades and possesses an extensive knowledge and deep appreciation for the beautiful Mersea coastline. He meticulously outfitted and prepared Sturdy Girl to meet all commercial regulations, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for all passengers. Launched in 2018, Sturdy Girl initially served as a pleasure vessel for family and friends. However, following Nick's completion of all necessary exams, including acquiring a commercial endorsement in 2021, he can now operate the boat to its licenced limitations.

Nick's passion for the water and the vessel he built motivates him to make full use of Sturdy Girl.

Sturdy Girl is a 31ft Pro Charter Vayron, exquisitely fitted out and skilfully captained by Nick himself. Equipped with a powerful 315hp Yanmar engine, capable of reaching speeds up to 28 knots, Sturdy Girl is YDSA coded to Cat 3 certification. With its licence allowing for the transportation of up to 10 people, including the crew, within 20 miles from a safe haven, Sturdy Girl is fully equipped to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all passengers. The boat features an off-deck WC, a heated wheelhouse, and all essential safety equipment required for a small commercial vessel.

To ensure the smooth operation of our trips, we kindly request that all passengers follow our rules and regulations. Any disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated, and the tour will promptly return to port if necessary. Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse boarding to anyone who appears to be intoxicated, with no refund being issued in such cases. However, a full refund will be provided if the trip is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or at the discretion of the skipper.

Located at the end of the jetty on Coast Road, West Mersea, CO5 8PA, Sturdy Girl is easily accessible by car, with a small car park available by the jetty and another opposite The Victory Public House.
