Sutton Cricket Club, nestled in Sutton, Surrey, has been a cornerstone of the local sporting community since 1857. Adam Nichols, the energetic organiser behind the scenes, ensures the club’s facilities are top-notch, with two grounds maintained to high standards. The main ground at Gander Green Lane hosts the 1st and 2nd Saturday league XIs, while the Holmwood Close ground in Cheam is home to the 3rd and 4th XIs, Women’s XIs, Youth and Junior XIs, and the Sunday XIs.

With four Surrey Championship titles under its belt, Sutton Cricket Club has a tradition of producing top-tier talent. Notable captains like Keith Medlycott, Phil Sampson, and Johann Myburgh have all left their mark here. The club now fields four Saturday league teams, with the first three competing in the Surrey Championship and the fourth in the Surrey Downs League. Additionally, there’s a Sunday Friendly XI, an Academy XI in the Surrey Trust League, Midweek XIs, and a Women’s XI.

Adam is proud of the club’s thriving junior section, which includes over 150 cricketers aged four to seventeen. The success stories of Jamie Smith and Josh Blake, who both started at Sutton CC and now play professionally for Surrey, are a testament to the club’s commitment to nurturing talent. Arun Harinath, another product of Sutton CC, retired recently from Surrey County cricket and has moved into finance, showcasing the supportive environment for career growth beyond sports.
