Annual dance show, “It's Showtime. ” This is an incredible opportunity for our students to showcase their hard work and talent on a professional stage, in front of friends, family, and a supportive community.
At the Suzanne School of Dancing, we believe in fostering a love for dance in all of our students. We strive to create a warm, friendly, and family-oriented atmosphere where students can feel comfortable expressing themselves through dance. Our experienced and qualified teachers work closely together to provide professional, supportive classes that encourage fun, confidence, and enthusiasm.
We offer a wide range of classes for all ages and abilities, starting from 18 months old. Whether you have a passion for the grace and elegance of ballet, the rhythm, and vitality of tap, or the energy and fun of modern and jazz, we have a class that will suit you. Our classes are graded to allow for constant progression and achievement, helping our students develop their skills and reach their full potential.
Our teachers are experienced and qualified members of established dance examination boards such as RAD, ISTD, and BRITISH ARTS. They provide the highest quality teaching and expertise to our pupils. All teachers are DBS checked and are up-to-date and knowledgeable about all first aid and health and safety requirements.
We offer examination opportunities in all dance genres, allowing our students to develop greater confidence and a sense of achievement. However, please note that examinations are not compulsory, and students can still progress and enjoy their dancing without taking exams. For our senior students, RAD and ISTD examinations are recognised qualifications by Ofqual, awarding points that can be used when applying to university.
Our classes are held at The Lights Theatre in Andover, where we utilise their excellent facilities and purpose-built studios. It provides the perfect space for our students to learn and grow as dancers.
The Suzanne School of Dancing is proud to be the longest-running dance school in Andover, with a rich history and a strong foundation. Founded just after the Second World War by Suzanne Edney, the school has been dedicated to promoting dance as an exciting hobby for local children. Grace Hicks, a former student, quickly fell in love with dancing and became a teacher herself, eventually becoming the principal of the school in 1966. Grace has celebrated her 50th anniversary as principal in 2016, and her love, support, dedication, and guidance have shaped the values and atmosphere of the school.
