Swanage Bowling Club

Swanage Bowling Club is a lawn bowls club located in Swanage Town Councils Beach Gardens, right off the seafront. The club shares a Pavilion with Swanage Tennis Club and has recently raised funds for a large translucent outdoor canopy to protect spectators from rain and sun, making matches even more enjoyable. With stunning views across the bay to the Isle of Wight, Swanage Bowling Club provides the perfect setting to enjoy a game of bowls in good company.

Dating back to 1928, Swanage Bowling Club is not only an important part of the sports and social activities within the town, but also a popular tourist attraction during the summer months. The club regularly welcomes touring sides and friendly matches, making it an ideal location for your club's South Coast bowling tour.

Membership at Swanage Bowling Club consists of approximately 90 members and associates. The club is dedicated to working with Swanage Town Council to ensure that it is accessible to all, including people with disabilities. While younger players often include the children and grandchildren of adult members, the club hopes to expand this group in the near future. At the beginning of each season, the club hosts several 'Have a Go' sessions for anyone interested in trying out the game.

New members pay half the annual subscription and receive one-on-one training sessions, along with all the other benefits of membership.

The club also offers various opportunities for regular play and socialisation. They run an in-house mid-week afternoon Triples league, which is a fun and competitive event held every week. Additionally, there are organised roll-up sessions, known as the Eastgate Rollers, held every Monday and Friday morning at 10:30 am. Teams are selected on the day, creating a lively and flexible atmosphere.

Club Night takes place every Friday evening at 5 pm, where members gather for a relaxed match before retiring to the clubhouse for refreshments and conversation.
