If you're heading to Swinley Forest Golf Club, take the M4 and exit at Junction 10. Follow signs for Ascot and then stay on the A329 until you reach Coronation Road.
Once there, you'll be welcomed by the beautiful surroundings of this private members' club. Designed by the legendary Harry Colt, the course has been delighting golfers for over a century with its stunning heathland views, featuring heather, pine woods, azaleas, and rhododendrons.
Swinley Forest offers a challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience with a mix of 2 par 5s, 11 par 4s, and 5 par 3s. The undulating greens add an extra layer of skill to the game. At 6,431 yards from the back tees and a par of 69, it plays deceptively long.
Although mainly a private club, Swinley Forest welcomes a limited number of visitors and societies on weekdays throughout the year, but do make sure to arrange in advance.
Visitors can enjoy a fantastic day of golf, and during summer, there's an option to play two rounds. Breakfast is served in the bar, and you can enjoy a full carvery in the upstairs dining room overlooking the course.
Remember to follow the dress code: traditional golfing attire on the course, tailored shorts allowed. No collarless shirts, jeans, or trainers. In the clubhouse, smart dress is encouraged, and gentlemen must wear jackets in the upstairs dining room.
Mobile phones should be used only in designated areas, such as the car park or visitors' changing room. On the course, clubhouse, and patio by the 18th green, refrain from using them, except passively for sharing photos, calendars, or emails.
To keep play moving smoothly, maintain a good pace and let faster golfers through if there’s a gap in front of you.
You'll find Swinley Forest Golf Club at the end of Bodens Ride, a small road off Coronation Road. Look for a red post box as a landmark. If you're coming from London or the West, the M4 and A329 route is the most straightforward.
With its rich history, stunning scenery, and challenging course, Swinley Forest Golf Club is a must-visit for golf lovers. Whether you're a member or just visiting, a memorable golfing experience awaits.
