The Sydney Buddhist Centre, located in the heart of Newtown, is a welcoming and vibrant Buddhist temple, meditation centre, place of worship, and religious organisation. For over 35 years, the centre has been offering courses in meditation, mindfulness, and Buddhism in a friendly and supportive environment. The centre is a part of the international Triratna Buddhist Community, which draws on the entire Buddhist tradition and expresses itself in a fresh and dynamic way.
At the Sydney Buddhist Centre, the teachings of Buddhism are incorporated into daily life by our practising Buddhist teachers. They strive to develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity, and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. Through our classes, individuals can transform their minds and cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves and the world.
Generosity, known as dna in Sanskrit, is at the heart of our community. We are funded by the generosity of our members, who give their time, energy, and financial support to create a space for practise and learning. As a result, we are able to offer our activities open-handedly, charging minimal amounts to make them accessible to all.
In addition to our regular classes, the Sydney Buddhist Centre hosts special events and retreats throughout the year. These include the Christmas Day Meditation, New Year Retreat – Mandala of Awakening, New Year Vajrasattva Pj, and the Coogee Sangha Retreat: The Tibetan Wheel of Life. These events provide opportunities for individuals to deepen their practise, connect with the community, and cultivate inner peace.
To stay updated on the latest events and offerings, individuals can subscribe to our mailing list. We respect privacy and promise not to share any personal information, and unsubscribing is just one click away.
