Synthonia Aikido Club Billingham is a martial arts club dedicated to the practise of Aikido. Aikido is a powerful and spiritual Japanese martial art that emphasises harmony and redirection of attacks rather than relying on sheer strength. Founded by Morihei Ueshiba (O'Sensei), Aikido is suitable for individuals of all ages and abilities, making it accessible to men and women alike.
As part of the Kobukan Aikido Association, Synthonia Aikido Club offers training sessions throughout Billingham, Gateshead, and Newcastle. The club prides itself on providing a friendly environment where members can train and improve their fitness, flexibility, confidence, and skill set.
The club's weekly timetable includes training sessions every Monday from 8:30 PM to 10 PM at the Synthonia Scout Club located on Greenwood Road in Billingham. During these sessions, members have the opportunity to enhance their self-confidence, self-awareness, self-defence skills, fitness level, and flexibility. The training also emphasises self-discipline, teaching hand-to-hand combat techniques, methods for pinning and restraining opponents, techniques involving samurai swords (Bokken), techniques with the Jo Staff, knife techniques, and what it takes to achieve a Black Belt in Aikido.
The club is led by Harvey Walker, who can be contacted at Sythonia Scout Hut on Greenwood Road in Billingham. For further inquiries or information, interested individuals can reach out to Harvey Walker via mobile at 07535666445.
The website design for the Synthonia Aikido Club is done by BNGWEBDESIGN. The website is currently under development and will offer a comprehensive resource on the essence of Aikido, as well as provide details on etiquette, photos, and terminology associated with Aikido.
