Classes are open to adults of all ages and skill levels. No previous dance experience or partner is required. The classes focus on teaching dancers to freestyle, identify different beats and timing, learn the features of each dance style, and dance the appropriate style for different types of music.

In addition to the regular dance classes, Taranaki Dance also offers workshops, private lessons, and choreography services. These additional services are perfect for individuals or couples who want to refine their skills, prepare for a wedding first dance, or learn specific routines.

Taranaki Dance is committed to supporting and growing the local dancing communities in Taranaki, including our blind community. In partnership with the Blind Foundation, we offer free dance classes to blind dancers, providing them with an opportunity to experience the joy of dance. We also support Alzheimers Taranaki by promoting public awareness of dementia and Alzheimer's during Alzheimers Awareness month in September.

Our dance classes are offered at a non-profit and low cost to ensure affordability and accessibility for everyone in the community. We believe that dance should be inclusive and enjoyed by all, regardless of financial barriers.

Our lead instructor, Maria Cashmore, has been dancing since she was seven years old. She has trained in New Zealand and Australia with world Latin-American dance champions and top instructors in Modern Jive, West Coast Swing, Latin, and Ballroom dance styles. Maria's passion for dance led her to establish Taranaki Dance and share her skills and knowledge with the local community.
