Te Aro Astanga Yoga

Te Aro Astanga Yoga sits right in the heart of Wellington, New Zealand. Tesh and the team offer traditional Ashtanga Yoga classes in a supportive environment, welcoming everyone from beginners to seasoned yogis.

Not tried yoga before or looking to get deeper into your practice? Tesh invites you to a two-week introductory trial, completely free. It's the perfect chance to get a feel for the studio and meet the community. Beginners, don’t hesitate – you’re especially welcome.

Te Aro Astanga Yoga also has events lined up, like the Xmas/New Year 2023/24 Holiday Hours. These gatherings are great for connecting with fellow yoga enthusiasts.

Classes come in two flavours: led classes and open classes. Led classes are guided sessions where everyone moves together through the Ashtanga sequences. Open classes are Mysore style, where you practice at your own pace with individual guidance from the teacher. Both styles combine breath control (pranayama) with flowing movements (vinyasa).

The studio embraces the Mysore style of teaching. In this method, Tesh gives personal guidance, tailoring the practice to each student's needs and helping everyone grow at their own pace. Over time, you'll learn the sequences by heart, making your practice more fluid and connected to your breath.

Classes run all week, from early mornings to weekends. They’re closed on public holidays and during the full moon and new moon.
