Ted Rowe Park

Ted Rowe Park, located in the suburban area of Muirhead in Darwin, is a designated urban park that provides a vibrant and active space for the local community. The park is registered with the Darwin City Council and was officially named on 11 December 2014.

The park's name, Ted Rowe Park, is a tribute to Ted Rowe, a former Australian Army member who was stationed in Darwin from 1939 to 1946 during World War Two. Ted experienced the devastating first bombing raid in Darwin Harbour on 19 February 1942 and continued to serve throughout the war. In 1978, Ted returned to Darwin with his family and became a prominent figure in the community. From 1979 to 1991, he served as the first Executive Officer of the Law Society of the Northern Territory, where he played a crucial role in establishing the procedures for issuing Annual Practising Certificates.

Ted also organised various annual events, such as the Law Society cricket match and dinners, and served on the Legal Practitioner's Admission Board. Furthermore, he dedicated his time as a long-term volunteer in the Meals on Wheels programme run by the Australian Red Cross. Unfortunately, Ted passed away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment.
