Principal and Founder, Amelia Appleby, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and is a member of the International Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). She has created The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts as a place where students can explore and develop their talents in a welcoming, friendly, and fun environment.
At The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts, students of all ages, from 2. 5 to 18 years old, as well as adults, are encouraged to participate in a variety of disciplines. These include dance, drama, and singing, allowing students to develop their skills and gain confidence in communication and performance.
The school is proud to offer separate disciplines of dance and drama and singing, making it the only local performing arts school with this unique approach. The school has two studio locations to choose from in Meopham or Maidstone. Additionally, the school's Star Agency offers all students professional auditions, providing them with amazing opportunities in the performing arts industry.
The classes offered at The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts are designed to lead to professional qualifications, including UCAS points, LAMDA qualifications, and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The school has a track record of success stories, with past students achieving great things in their chosen disciplines.
The dance classes offered at the school cover a range of styles, including ballet, tap, contemporary, pointe work, street jazz, and modern dance. These classes not only provide students with fitness and stamina benefits but are also a lot of fun. The school also offers junior ballet classes for younger students.
In addition to dance, students can also explore the world of drama and singing. Drama classes support academic studies and boost confidence, while singing and musical theatre classes allow students to showcase their vocal talents and perform on stage.
The school offers a free first lesson for prospective students to “try before you buy” and see if the school is the right fit for them. The testimonials from past students and parents speak to the positive impact that The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts has on its students' confidence and self-esteem.
The school's philosophy centres around introducing pupils to the wonderful world of performing arts while providing professional training, qualifications, and experiences. The syllabi of the ISTD, LAMDA, and ISDA are taught, and graduating students can achieve teaching certificates in their chosen areas.
The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts stands out for its emphasis on performance opportunities, excellent teaching, and a variety of disciplines. The caring and personal approach of the school ensures that each student is supported and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Principal and Founder, Amelia Appleby, leads the school alongside Debbie Wightwick, another experienced and qualified teacher who is dedicated to the success and well-being of the students.
The school regularly updates its website and social media accounts with the latest news and photos from performances and events. This allows parents and the wider community to stay connected and see the incredible talent and achievements of The Amelia Appleby School of Performing Arts.
