The Barbarian Rugby Football Club

The Barbarian Rugby Football Club, based in Auckland, is a club that embodies the spirit of adventurous rugby. Inspired by the foundation Barbarians club in England, the club was established following the 1935 All Blacks tour of Great Britain by Hugh McLean and Ron Bush. From its early years, the club has been actively involved in organising benefit matches and exhibitions to spread the love for rugby in Auckland and the North Island.

In 2010, patron Bob Sorenson inaugurated the club's new facility on level 6 of the ASB Stand at Eden Park, representing a new chapter in its history.
