The Courts Skateboard Park, located in Vancouver, on the unceded ancestral lands of the xmkym (Musqueam), Swxw7mesh (Squamish) & slilwta (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, is a vibrant hub for skateboard enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Established in 2017, The Courts has grown to become a vital part of the Vancouver skateboard community.
The park was at risk of being demolished in 2021, but the Britannia Skateboard Committee worked tirelessly to advocate for its preservation. Through meetings, presentations, testimonials, and community engagement, the committee successfully saved The Courts from destruction. Now officially recognized and supported by the Britannia Community Services Centre, the committee aims to maintain and enhance the skatepark for the enjoyment of all.
At The Courts, obstacles are built by and for the community, fostering skill-building, creativity, and community spirit. The park is inclusive and welcoming to all, regardless of age, identity, or skill level. With moveable obstacles and lighting for night skating, The Courts provides a social space for events, workshops, and community engagement.
The Britannia Skateboard Committee is dedicated to collaborating with the skateboard community, hosting events, and acting as a liaison for the community centre. They provide feedback on future skatepark developments and strive to create a safe and inviting space for all skaters.
For more information, inquiries, or updates on meetings, events, and developments, you can contact the Britannia Skateboard Committee via email or social media.
