The Hangout Climbing Ltd is a rock climbing gym located on the stunning island of Portland in Dorset. With approximately 140sq m of climbing wall space, we offer a diverse range of climbing experiences including a cave, overhangs, slabs, and crack climbing. Our facility also features a spray wall and a symmetry board for climbers to challenge themselves and improve their skills.
In addition to our climbing walls, we provide a range of services to enhance your climbing experience. Our small shop offers equipment hire, including bouldering pads, shoes, and helmets. We also have a well-stocked inventory of chalk, chalk bags, fingertape, and brushes to meet all your climbing needs. Visitors can satisfy their hunger and thirst with our selection of snacks, refreshments, and hot or cold drinks available on-site.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we operate on a booking-only system. Bookings can be made online through our website or by phone. If it's your first visit to our climbing gym, we kindly ask that you read through and fill out the necessary form provided on our website.
We offer several membership options to suit your climbing needs. Our adult premium membership provides unlimited bookings per month and free use of the training area from 17:30 onwards. Premium members also receive one free guest entry per month, making it the perfect option for those who want to bring friends or family along. Shoe hire is complimentary for our members, and they can extend their climbing sessions by booking back-to-back slots.
Memberships are valid for one month from the date of purchase and require a one-time payment without any hidden fees.
Our climbing sessions are open to adults and children from the age of 10. However, children between the ages of 10 and 17 must be accompanied by a competent climbing adult who has previously climbed with us. Climbing shoes are recommended, but if you don't have a pair, they are available for hire at a cost of 1. If you prefer to wear trainers, please bring a separate clean and well-fitting pair.
Do not wear the pair you intend to climb in to the centre.
For those looking to improve their climbing skills, our training area is available to all members over the age of 18 during the first sessions of the day. Advance booking is required to ensure availability.
