The Karate Dojo - Ripon

The Karate Dojo – Ripon is a highly professional dojo dedicated to the modern coaching of traditional karate. Located in Ripon, New Zealand, the dojo offers award-winning coaching from beginner to elite levels in a purpose-built venue. Sensei Ady Grey, the Senior Coach, is not only a highly experienced coach with over 26 years of experience but also the England Head Coach and the UK Coaching Childrens Coach of the Year. The dojo is proud to host regular training sessions for the England national team.

The Karate Dojo offers classes for all ages, starting from 4 years old and catering to mature adults. They have beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, ensuring that students can progress at their own pace. In addition to teaching self-defence techniques, the dojo focuses on personal development and fostering important life skills such as respect, positive mental attitude, perseverance, and confidence. The goal is to create good individuals and empower both the members and the community through karate.

The dojo offers specialised classes for different age groups, including Tigers for children aged 4-6, Kids for those aged 7 and above, Adults for individuals aged 13 and older, as well as Family classes. Sensei Ady Grey, an award-winning childrens coach, leads the sessions for kids and is also the Head Coach for the England Karate Team.

The coaching team at The Karate Dojo – Ripon is made up of highly qualified coaches who all hold black belts and are dedicated to upholding the dojo's ethos and standards. They have each started their own karate journeys at the dojo and can provide consistent, joined-up coaching that reflects the values and teachings of Sensei Ady Grey. The team includes Sensei Georgia Robson, Sensei Cameron Hainsworth, Sensei Paul Steel, Sensei Angela Cashmore, and Sensei Terry Cawood.

The Karate Dojo – Ripon was founded in 1995 by Sensei Ady Grey and has since been providing the Ripon community with a supportive and inclusive environment for learning karate.
