The yoga classes at The Meikai Dojo are designed for individuals seeking to improve their physical and mental well-being. The practise focuses on stretching, breathing techniques, mindfulness, and meditation. In addition, participants may also learn the basics of Shiatsu, a therapeutic massage technique. Morning classes are held on Mondays from 10 to 11 am, and evening classes take place on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 pm.

A taster class can be attended for a discounted price of 3 or 5, respectively, and monthly class fees are 25 or 40, payable by standing order.

For those interested in martial arts, The Meikai Dojo offers classes in Te, also known as Udun-di. Te is considered the pinnacle of Okinawan martial arts and has been practised in secrecy by the upper royalty for over fourteen hundred years. The art focuses on advanced footwork, weapon practise (kobudo & Iai), as well as wrist and hand grappling techniques. It is described as an elegant and mobile martial art, making it suitable for individuals of all builds.

Evening classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 pm. Taster classes, which consist of a block of four sessions, are offered at a discounted price of 20. Monthly class fees are 40 or 70, depending on the number of classes attended per week. Participants are encouraged to attend yoga classes to make up for any missed martial arts classes.

The Meikai Dojo also provides Shiatsu treatments, a Japanese therapeutic massage system. Meikai Shiatsu follows a hands-on approach that focuses on relaxation, release, and letting go. The treatment is beneficial for relieving chronic aches and pains, as well as rehabilitating soft tissue injuries related to sports or martial arts. Appointments are available from Monday to Saturday mornings and can be scheduled by contacting Mick, the skilled massage therapist, at 07513 044056.

The price for a one-hour Shiatsu treatment is 70. Clients are advised to wear soft, loose clothing during the session, such as a t-shirt and jogging bottoms or leggings. Additionally, it is recommended to leave jewellery at home, as it may interfere with the massage.

The Meikai Dojo welcomes able-bodied, consenting adults to its classes and services. It is strongly recommended to train twice a week to allow for proper muscle memory and learning. Classes run on a rolling weekly basis, with yoga classes resuming on January 2nd, 2024.
