The Open Space

The Open Space is a warm and inviting yoga studio located in Abbotsford, nestled on the banks of the Yarra River and surrounded by nature. This urban sanctuary offers a holistic approach to yoga, inviting individuals to explore and deepen their practise and find their community. The studio believes in an authentic and integrated practise of classical yoga, aiming to promote physical and psychological well-being.

At The Open Space, they offer a range of transformational workshops and experiences to expand overall well-being with wisdom, joy, and inspiration. Their dedicated community space also provides healing services such as Massage and Reiki, as well as Clinical Psychology and group work to support individuals on their journey.

The studio recognises the uplifting power of music on the body, mind, and spirit. They regularly host Kirtan nights, which are call and response singing and chanting sessions, as a form of Bhakti (devotional) yoga. These sessions are open to anyone, regardless of experience level, and foster a sense of connexion and devotion.

Meditation is an integrated part of yoga classes at The Open Space, and they also offer standalone meditation classes and workshops. They are committed to making this practise accessible to all and provide a free community meditation class every week. Through dance workshops and events, The Open Space encourages individuals to let go, experience ecstatic dance, and embrace improvisation. They invite guest DJs and improvisational facilitators to create a flow of joyous free movement.

The Open Space also offers sound healing classes, which are based on the ancient practise of using sound resonance to promote deep relaxation and body healing. Massage therapy and bodywork are additional services provided at the studio, emphasising the importance of a holistic approach to health.

Founded by Clinical Psychologists, The Open Space integrates the mind-body connexion into their practise. They offer psychotherapy and group work to support individuals, couples, and groups in their personal growth and well-being journey.

Throughout the year, The Open Space hosts a variety of workshops that introduce students to different facets of yoga and beyond. These workshops provide opportunities for students to deepen their personal yogic journey within a safe and connected space.
