Roy Wood, the Head Coach at The Snake Pit Wigan, has had a remarkable journey in the world of wrestling. With ambitions to go to the Olympics, Roy fulfilled his dream during the 2012 London Olympics. However, his ultimate ambition is to honour his coach Billy Riley and preserve the legacy of Catch wrestling by passing on all that he has learned. Roy is humbled by the dedication and loyalty shown by the Snake Pit members and is thrilled to see the gym thriving with great coaches and wrestlers.

For Roy, it is a lifelong ambition come true.

At The Snake Pit Wigan, we offer a range of training options for wrestling enthusiasts. We run monthly seminars as well as an intensive week of training each year. Additionally, we organise tournaments for competitors to test their skills. Our focus is on teaching pure Catch wrestling and passing on the techniques that birthed legends and champions such as Karl Gotch, Billy Robinson, Bob Robinson, and Roy Wood himself.
