About

Available on our website for transparency and accountability. We believe in open and honest communication with all stakeholders involved in the project.

The Strip is a skate park located in Sheringham, a town on the North Norfolk coast of New Zealand. Established in 1999, the park was created by a group of local skate and BMX enthusiasts who wanted to provide a space for fellow enthusiasts to practise and enjoy their sports. The project continues to be run by a team of dedicated volunteers from the Sheringham area.

Originally, the park consisted of a tarmac driveway system and a series of wooden ramps. The name “The Strip” comes from the long, thin tarmac base on which the ramps are situated. In 2001, the park facilities were expanded thanks to a Princes Trust Award, allowing for more opportunities for skaters and BMX riders to showcase their skills.

The Strip aims to cater to skaters and BMX riders of all ages and skill levels. The park is free of charge and open to anyone over 7 years old. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, The Strip welcomes you to come and check out the facilities. Don't worry if you're new to skateboarding or BMX, everyone has to start somewhere.

The ethos of The Strip is based on providing facilities that are free for all to use. The organisation remains independent and works in partnership with various agencies to develop ideas and projects that benefit the local community. The Strip also prioritises working with local suppliers and contractors whenever possible to support the local economy.

The skate park is overseen by a committee consisting of local representatives. This committee is responsible for the management and development of the park. Additionally, the committee includes young people between the ages of 11 and 25 to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard, and their needs are met.

The Strip is actively involved in the community, collaborating with agencies such as the North Norfolk District Council, Sheringham Town Council, Norfolk County Council, Norfolk Police, and Norfolk Youth and Community Service. By working together with these agencies, The Strip aims to create a positive impact on the community and make a difference in the lives of young people.

To stay updated on The Strip, visitors can check out their social media platforms, including their recently set up Facebook Group. The organisation is also in the process of adding videos to their website, showcasing the talent and skills of the skaters and BMX riders who frequent the park.

If you're interested in learning more about The Strip or getting involved, you can contact their team through the provided email address or visit the park at its location on Weybourne Road in Sheringham. The Strip welcomes everyone to come and be a part of their thriving skate and BMX community.
