The Yacht Club of Hyderabad (YCH) stands as a beacon of excellence and inclusivity in the heart of Hyderabad. Nestled in the serene environs of Sanjeevaiah Park, YCH offers more than just a place to sail; it's a thriving community dedicated to building skills, confidence, and futures through the transformative power of sailing. Established on World Environment Day, June 5th, 2009, YCH has grown from humble beginnings to a world-class institution with over 150 boats and a legacy of national champions.
At YCH, sailing is accessible to everyone. The club is driven by a mission to support and uplift disadvantaged children, particularly from government schools. Over 99% of YCH's students hail from underprivileged backgrounds, and the club takes pride in delivering top-notch training and support, resulting in over 68 medals and 6 national champions. The commitment to social responsibility is the club's raison d'être, ensuring that each child not only learns to sail but also gains essential life skills, academic opportunities, and nutritional support.
The club's comprehensive programs go beyond the water, preparing students for various career paths, including opportunities in the Armed Forces. Since its inception, YCH has successfully placed 10 students into prestigious training schools run by the Armed forces. The club's efforts have been transformative, with orphans and children from farming and labor backgrounds reaching top sailing levels and achieving academic success.
YCH's growth mirrors its commitment to community and excellence. What started with 3 little boats and 4 kids has blossomed into a vibrant community with around 150 children actively participating in sailing activities. YCH remains privately funded and continually expands its outreach through inviting applications for sports and academic scholarships in sailing, ensuring the legacy of dignity through sports endures. Join the YCH family, support its mission, and witness the incredible impact of sailing on young lives.
