TISKA Karate Ashby & Measham

Adults are welcome to join the club, and families are specifically encouraged to participate together.

The Chief Instructor of TISKA Karate Ashby & Measham is Sensei R. Bharj, a qualified and experienced 5th Dan who has been training under the guidance of Shihan G. Sahota (8th Dan) since early 1990. Sensei R.

Bharj has participated in numerous national and international courses, including master courses, as both an official and a competitor. He holds all the necessary certifications and insurances, including DBS, Public Liability, Coaching Certificate, and Covid safe certification.

The Ashby & Measham club offers classes for beginners as well as students of all abilities. The club has a diverse mix of karate-ka's from different backgrounds, creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment. Whether you are a professional, social, or cultural background, you can find a place in the club and become part of a proud community.

The club aims to develop balance, coordination, self-confidence, and discipline in its members. It offers a free trial for beginners to experience the benefits of Shotokan Karate. The club's goal is to guide beginners through their karate journey, taking them in detail right through to Black Belt (Shodan) level. All ages are welcome, and families are especially encouraged to join and train together.

Sensei R. Bharj and the Ashby & Measham club are affiliated with TISKA (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association), which is one of the largest associations in the UK. TISKA was formed by Shihan G. Sahota in 1993 and has since brought hundreds of students of all ages to black belt standard and beyond.

Apart from karate training, Sensei R. Bharj and TISKA Karate Ashby & Measham are involved in charity work. They help to fund projects in underprivileged countries, support the building of a new school in India, and subsidise trips for surgeons to provide medical care to children in need.
