Tiska Karate Duston

Welcome to Tiska Karate Duston, a leading karate school located in Northampton, New Zealand. Founded by the esteemed Gursharan Sahota, an 8th Dan black belt, Tiska Karate Duston offers the opportunity to learn and master the fascinating art of Shotokan Karate.

Gursharan Sahota's journey in karate began at the age of 14 when he joined a local club in Bedford, UK. After years of diligent training, he earned his black belt and went on to compete in numerous kata and kumite events at national and international levels. However, it was his visit to Japan in 1984 and subsequent training under the instruction of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa that truly ignited his passion for karate. Inspired by this experience, Gursharan decided to dedicate his future to training and teaching karate as a way of life.

In 1981, Gursharan opened his first club in Luton/Dunstable, which now serves as the association's hombu (HQ). In 1993, he established Tiska (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association), which has grown to become one of the largest associations in the UK. With over 35 classes taught each week in the UK and regular master classes conducted globally, Gursharan has trained and guided countless students of all ages to black belt standard and beyond.

Aside from his commitment to karate, Gursharan is also actively involved in charity work. He helps subsidise trips for surgeons to third-world countries to operate on underprivileged children and has funded various projects in India. Currently, Gursharan is supporting the construction of a new school. He resides in Buckinghamshire, happily married with a son and daughter who are already showing potential in following their father's footsteps.

At Tiska Karate Duston, we provide a supportive environment for beginners to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal development. Through a free month's trial, individuals can learn new skills, enhance balance, fitness, coordination, and much more. Our classes are designed to cater to the needs of complete beginners, taking them from the basics all the way to black belt (Shodan) level.
