About
Join the TISKA Shepshed Shotokan Karate Club in Loughborough and learn from the best! Founded by the accomplished Gursharan Sahota, an 8th Dan black belt, this club welcomes karate enthusiasts of all skill levels.
Gursharan's journey in karate started when he was 14 in Bedford. By the age of 18, he had earned his 1st Dan black belt and went on to compete in many national and international events. A pivotal moment in his career was training in Japan under Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa.
In 1981, Gursharan opened his first club in Luton/Dunstable, now the HQ for TISKA (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association), formed in 1993. With over 35 classes weekly across the UK and master classes globally, he has guided hundreds to achieve black belt standard and beyond.
Aside from karate, Gursharan actively supports charity work, subsidising trips for surgeons to perform operations in third-world countries and funding projects in India, including building a new school. He lives happily in Buckinghamshire with his family.
