Top Glove Boxing Academy, located in Greater Sudbury, has been a prominent figure in Northern Ontario's athletic community since its establishment in 1990. Coach Gordon Apolloni has dedicated the past three decades to offering top-level training that has propelled numerous local athletes to achievements such as World Championships, the Olympics, and beyond. Additionally, the academy serves as a welcoming space for individuals of all fitness levels to thrive, regardless of their goals.
The academy hosts a variety of classes to cater to the diverse needs and skill levels of its members, including the Rock Steady Boxing Program for Parkinson's Patients. All coaches at Top Glove Boxing Academy are volunteer NCCP registered and certified, ensuring high-quality instruction for each member.
Amber Konikow, a registered nurse and the first female from Sudbury to win a Canadian Championship, plays a significant role at the academy. She continues to compete while also coaching, emphasizing the values of discipline, self-esteem, inner strength, and encouragement to her students.
Beth-Anne Kucheran, a Club Coach and NCCP level 1 coach, is also certified in Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson's. She brings her expertise as a Registered Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist to promote the health benefits of daily exercise to academy members.
Head Coach Gord Apolloni, a Level V NCCP Certified Coach and AIBA 3 STAR rated coach, boasts an impressive coaching career. With over 30 years of experience, Gord has trained provincial, national, and world champions. His achievements include serving as the Head Coach of various national and international events, such as the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.
Top Glove Boxing Academy's mission is to promote health, fitness, integrity, and good citizenship through the sport of amateur boxing. With a team of dedicated and experienced coaches, the academy continues to foster a supportive and empowering environment for individuals to achieve their fitness and athletic goals.
